There are five different vampire bloodlines; Arden, Avalon, Ajax,
Acacia and Aletha.
These are named after five vampires, said to be the first of these
lines. Now they are believed to be dead. Why and how the lines got
their name is still unknown, but there are many theories.
One of these is that each of the five vampire had one child each
while still mortal, which carried the vampire blood of it's parent
on to it's own children. And they passed it on to theirs, and so
on. After a while the blood was only passed to some children, and
it could be missing for generations before it suddently showed up
again.
Another, which is less known, is that it was named after the five
at random, and that in truth there used to be even more bloodlines.
It is said that these five rose to be leaders, and that they formed
the first High Counsil. How the lines came to be named after them,
and what happened to the other lines, is unknown, and few dare to
speculate.
The lines were divided during the War of the Lines, and when the
war was over, the three Greek lines (Ajax, Acacia and Aletha) came
out victorious. Since that day the Head of their lines have been
on the High Counsil, and it is the Greek lines that make the vampire
laws, and enforces them.
The animosity between the three Greek lines and the remaining two,
the Latin lines (Arden and Avalon), has been strong ever since the
war. In time it has became a part of the bloodline itself. The hatred
now lies in the blood of each new vampire who is born. When someone
from the Latin lines meets, or is close to, a member of the gree
lines, they will feel the hatred between the lines before they are
even aware the other vampire is there.
In order to keep the purity of the lines, one is not allowed to
make a member of another line immortal. While it is not law, it
is customary to bring each new mortal vampire to the Head of his
or her line, before the choice to make him/her immortal is made.
It is also usually the Head of the line who performs this act, though
it has been known to be done by other members of the line.
